Proposals for research and PhD projects
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp launch their call for research and PhD projects starting in September 2027.
The application procedure consists of several steps. Below you’ll find the first deadlines for submitting your proposal for each type of application and school.
One- or two-year research projects
→ Conservatoire: 21 September 2026
→ Academy: 3 November 2026
Four-year PhD projects
→ Academy: 3 November 2026
→ Conservatoire: 10 November 2026

Opening Up European Contemporary Dance (Discourses)
On April 24th, 2023, Cultural Studies (KU Leuven) and STUK - House for Dance, Image & Sound will host "Dancing diaspora: Opening up European Contemporary Dance (Discourses)", a symposium that brings together speakers from different theoretical fields with dance scholars, practitioners and interested audiences to think about dance and diaspora cultures. The next day, a more closed seminar takes place, also in Leuven, with the same speakers to discuss the issues raised in the symposium in a more closed setting. Both events are free, but registration is required. For the seminar, the organizers especially welcome Master/PhD researchers or dance artists with a particular interest in this topic in the practice or research.
